BEFORE WE ARRIVE
A little prep on your end makes a big difference on move day.
- Clear pathways — remove clutter from doors, hallways, and stairwells so we can move freely and safely.
- Reserve the elevator — if your building has one, contact your superintendent in advance to book it exclusively for your move window.
- Secure parking — we need the equivalent of 3 car lengths in front of the entrance. Ask neighbours to park elsewhere for the day, or arrange a parking permit with the city if required. Blocking traffic or emergency vehicle access is illegal and will slow everything down
- Winter moves — shovel and salt before we arrive. Ice and snow slow the crew and increase the risk of damage. That cost lands on your timeline.
FOR BUSINESSES
Commercial moves have more moving parts. Here's how to set your team up for a smooth transition.
- Assign an internal point of contact — one person on your team who knows the plan, has access to all areas, and can make decisions on the spot.
- Label everything before move day — workstations, filing cabinets, server components. The clearer the labelling, the faster the setup at destination.
- Notify building management early — both origin and destination. Book loading docks, freight elevators, and confirm any access restrictions well in advance.
- Disconnect equipment ahead of time — computers, monitors, and peripherals should be powered down and cables organized before we arrive. Your IT team should be looped in.
- Plan your floor layout in advance — know where everything goes before the trucks pull
SAVE MONEY ON YOUR MOVE
- Avoid peak season — summer months (June–August) and end-of-month dates are the busiest and most expensive times to move.
- Mid-month moves cost less — demand drops significantly between the 5th and 25th of the month.
- Declutter before we arrive — the less we move, the less you pay. Dispose of, donate, or store anything you don't need at the new location.
- Pack what you can — the more boxes ready to go, the faster the job. Check our packing tips for guidance.
- Book early — last-minute moves cost more and limit your options.
